SBR – Styrene Butadiene Rubber

IIR – Butyl Rubber

Butyl Rubber (IIR) is a copolymer of isobutylene with a small amount of isoprene. It is an amorphous rubber with very low permeability to gases and excellent chemical stability, making it suitable for a wide range of sealing and protective applications.

Main Features:

  1. Extremely low gas permeability, providing excellent air tightness.
  2. Excellent resistance to heat, ozone, and weathering.
  3. Good resistance to acids, alkalis, and polar solvents.
  4. Excellent damping and shock absorption properties.
  5. Low resilience, with poor dynamic performance.
  6. Good electrical insulation performance.
  7. Poor compatibility with most other rubbers.
  8. Poor resistance to oils and non-polar solvents.

Main Applications:

  1. Inner tubes for tires, bladder membranes, and gas-holding products.
  2. Sealing components for chemical equipment.
  3. Shock-absorbing materials and vibration isolation pads.
  4. Protective clothing and chemical-resistant gloves.
  5. Linings for tanks, ponds, and pipelines.
  6. Pharmaceutical stoppers and medical sealing components.
